ING Real Estate Canada volunteers donate their time and make a $100,000 donation to the CAFB in Halifax

In December, through its NO SPACE FOR HUNGER program, ING Real Estate Canada organized employee and tenant food drives, and donated $110,000 to the Canadian Association of Food Banks and food banks located in the cities in which we operate.
NO SPACE FOR HUNGER is a charitable program established by ING Real Estate Canada to help fight the very serious problem of hunger in Canada. The program involves six areas of activity as follows:

- financial assistance;
- fundraising events;
- employee and tenant food drives;
- employee volunteering;
- temporary warehouse space for food bank use; and
- raising awareness.
To ensure the effectiveness of this program and to coordinate our activities, we have forged alliances with the Canadian Association of Food Banks and the local food banks in the communities in which we operate. Our presence across Canada puts us in a very strong position to help with this cause on a national level.
In 2007, more than 720,000 people across Canada used food banks to feed themselves and their families and 39% of these were children. The number of people who need support obtaining food and nourishment is staggering. It is a basic problem of epidemic proportions that does not obtain the attention that it deserves. We feel our program of giving to the CAFB and food banks to support the less fortunate will make an immediate impact in our communities throughout Canada.
